Hey there,
I hope your New Year is off to a great start and you are staying safe.
Â
More than a few times I'll get asked about switching out my voice in the videos with a different voiceover.
Â
In the Members area, there is a bonus training video that among many of the repurposing techniques covered, altering the audio track is one of them.
Â
1. Adjust The Pitch
Â
The 'Audio Altering' is where you adjust the pitch to a lower or higher tone. Like a Barry White or Mickey Mouse type tone.
This can be done with a free program like Audacity (https://audacityteam.org) or there are several premium programs to choose from like Adobe Audition or even something with fewer features like PawEditor (https://www.fonepaw.com/paweditor/). Â
This is pretty easy to do but will also change the length of the audio track which then requires you to make some adjustments to keep the audio and video in sync with each other.
2. AI Generated Voiceover (Text To Speech)
Â
Applications like Amazon Polly (https://aws.amazon.com/polly/) is easy to use but not always as good as an actual human voice.
Â
They are getting better - which is kinda scary but right now they still have a ways to go.
Â
This method will change the voice from mine to whatever you choose from the application AND will not change the length of the audio track so getting the audio and video out of sync is not a problem.
Â
3. Read The Transcripts For Voiceover
Â
Another method to replacing the audio tracks are reading from the transcripts and recording your own voiceover or hiring someone to do the voiceover. The hiring option can be expensive.
Â
The transcripts I provide are machine generated which is not 100% perfect. So you will want to proof-read them before handing them off to your voiceover artist whether that is you are someone else.
Â
NOTE: As you are correcting the typos, you may decide to replace a few words along the way to make it more "your voice".
Â
Then using a video editor, you remove the existing audio track and insert the new one. If they are not the exact same length then you need to make adjustments in the video to synchronize the two.
Â
This can be time consuming on your first couple of attempts but you will develop shortcuts as you go, which will make you faster each time you do this.
Throughout the videos there are points where nothing on the screen is moving and those are perfect spots to cut into.
Â
Within these cuts, you can either remove or extend that 'clip segment' so your audio syncs up with your video.
Â
*The proof-reading of the transcripts should be done before using them with programs like Amazon Polly as well.
Â
The easier method is to not alter the existing audios but to add an introduction to the course and/ or individual Volumes.
Â
Something like:
You:
Hello, I'm {Your Name}, and today I'd like to introduce our {Course Name} trainer Steve.
Â
Me:
Thank you {Your Name}, Hi everyone, I'm Steve and as {Your Name} said, I'll be helping you learn about {Course Name}. So let's get started...
That is just an example but if you wrote up a short script you would want me to record, I'd be happy to do so for 5 bucks.
